Geodesign: GIS and Data-Enriched Design
Fall 2018
Workshop Duration: 3 weeks
Invited by Prof: Michael Rehm & Marcelo Spina
Instructor: Biayna Bogosian
Number of Students: 10
This workshop introduces the concept of geodesign as both a framework for informed design decision making and a set of tools or technologies for negotiating the complex relationship of spatial data and architecture.
Through lectures and hands-on exercises, the students will be introduced to the principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the acquisition, management, and analysis of spatial data. This workshop will also overview the time-based visualization techniques of the GIS data. Working in teams, the students will identify a site and four urban parameters to visualize in the form of a short video.
